ALZip is a file archiver developed by the Korean company ESTsoft and the flagship of its ALTools software family. It extracts 39 archive formats, including ZIP, RAR, 7Z and ISO, and creates archives in eight, among them ESTsoft's own EGG and ALZ formats. Its main practical value is opening the EGG and ALZ files that still circulate on Korean web storage services and message boards.
The edition on the official Korean site has a Korean-only interface with menus laid out the way Korean users expect, which makes it approachable for home users new to archivers. The free version, however, displays ads, removing them requires the paid ALTools AD-ZERO subscription, and companies, schools and public institutions must buy a separate license. Anyone who wants an ad-free archiver or a free tool for work should choose something else.
ALZip creates and extracts ESTsoft's own EGG and ALZ archives. The EGG format adds solid compression, which packs files together for a better ratio, and split archives that break large files into parts.
It extracts 39 formats, including ZIP, RAR, 7Z, CAB, ISO, GZ, BZ2, LZH and TAR. It can create archives in eight formats: EGG, ALZ, ZIP, TAR, TBZ, TGZ, LZH and JAR.
ESTsoft claims its own technology speeds up extraction by up to 700%, unpacking a 350 MB file in about two seconds. The company notes that results depend on the format, PC specifications and environment.
When an archive contains a file that looks like malware, ALZip warns before extracting or running it and offers to unpack it into a separate safe folder. It can also scan archives with ESTsecurity's ALYac antivirus.
A single click extracts an archive to the desktop, the Downloads folder or the archive's own location. Images inside an archive can be previewed as thumbnails in icon view without extracting them.
ALZip detects the character encoding of an archive automatically to avoid garbled file names. It can also create UTF-8 archives so that original names survive on systems in other languages.
With 39 extraction formats including EGG and ALZ, split and solid compression and ALYac scanning, ALZip covers everyday archiving needs. Several features are format-bound, though: multicore compression works only for ZIP, and split and solid compression only for EGG.
Menus and help are entirely in Korean, and most tasks run from the right-click menu, so Korean users pick it up quickly. Non-Korean speakers will find the Korean edition hard to use, and the ads in the free version interrupt the workflow.
The free version is ad-supported, and ads can be removed only through the paid AD-ZERO subscription. Version 12.37, released on August 27, 2026, fixed a privilege-escalation vulnerability in the ISO mount feature, so older installations should be updated.

ALZip is free for personal use, but the free version shows ads. Companies, schools and public institutions must buy a license from the ALTools store.
Subscribing to the paid ALTools AD-ZERO service removes the ads. For an ad-free archiver at no cost, an open-source program such as 7-Zip is the alternative.
Use a program that supports the EGG format, such as ALZip or Bandizip. EGG is ESTsoft's own format, and general archivers such as 7-Zip cannot open it.
No. Business, educational and public-sector use requires a paid license; Bandizip and 7-Zip are free options for work.
Use the latest version from the official site, altools.co.kr. Version 12.37 (August 2026) fixed a privilege-escalation flaw in the ISO mount feature, so earlier versions should be updated.
ALZip suits Korean home users who regularly handle EGG and ALZ files and want a Korean interface. Its format support is dependable, but ads in the free version, a paid subscription to remove them and the license required for business use hold it to our editor rating of 2 out of 5.
