Overview

PicPick is a screen capture program for Windows from the Korean developer NGWIN. It grabs the full screen, a window, a region or a scrolling page, records the screen to video, and lets you mark up the result with arrows, callouts and mosaics before sending it to the clipboard, a file or a cloud service. It also includes design helpers such as a color picker and a pixel ruler for web and UI work. The desktop app now lives at picpick.app.

It fits people who regularly make screenshots for personal blogs, study notes or hobby projects. The free edition, however, is licensed for personal, non-commercial use only: work tasks, client projects and anything that generates revenue require a paid Pro license. Anyone looking for a capture tool for the office should first consider an open-source option without such restrictions, or the Snipping Tool built into Windows.

Key Features

Capture modes

PicPick captures the full screen, the active window, a window control, a scrolling window, a region, a fixed region or a freehand shape, with optional delay. Version 7.6.0 added capturing a specific monitor from a dropdown, and 7.6.2 lets you adjust the scroll area before a scrolling capture and shows live progress.

Screen recorder

The recorder saves the full screen, a window or a custom region to a video file with system audio, microphone or both. Version 7.6.1 added pause and resume, a webcam overlay, cursor highlighting and click effects.

Image editor

The editor offers text, arrows, shapes, speech bubbles and numbered stamps, plus blur, mosaic, watermark, drop shadow and frame effects. An option saves several images as a single PDF.

Design tools

A color picker, color palette, pixel ruler, magnifier, crosshair, protractor and whiteboard are available from the system tray. The color picker copies values in HEX, RGB, HTML, C++ and Delphi formats.

Save and share

Images can be saved as PNG, JPEG, BMP, GIF or PDF, or sent straight to a printer, email, FTP/SFTP, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, Box, Word, PowerPoint, Excel or Slack.

Assessment

Features

Capture, recording, editing and design helpers cover nearly everything expected from a screenshot tool. The free and Pro editions have the same tools; the only difference is the right to commercial use.

Ease of Use

An Office-style ribbon makes tools easy to find, and hotkeys and auto-save rules can be customized in detail. The flip side of the large feature set is an installation footprint of about 250 MB.

Stability & Safety

The developer states that PicPick collects no usage data and runs locally without an internet connection, and the update check at launch can be turned off. Updates are regular, with 7.6.2 released on October 26, 2026.

FAQ

Is PicPick free for commercial use?

No. The free edition is for personal, non-commercial use only; work use, client projects and revenue-generating activities require a Pro license.

What is the difference between PicPick Free and Pro?

The tools are identical, and the Pro license adds commercial-use rights. A single-user lifetime license costs $79 (regular price $99), with team and enterprise licenses also available.

Is there a portable version of PicPick?

Yes. The official download page at picpick.app offers a ZIP package that runs without installation alongside the regular installer.

Can PicPick take scrolling screenshots?

Yes. The scrolling window capture stitches long web pages or documents into one image, and since version 7.6.2 you can adjust the scroll area before capturing.

Does PicPick work on Windows 11?

Yes. The official site lists support for Windows Vista through Windows 11 in both x86 and x64 builds.

Verdict

PicPick is a capable screenshot tool, but its free use is limited to personal, non-commercial purposes. Because work use requires a paid license while open-source alternatives cover the same tasks without restrictions, its value as freeware is low, which earns it our editor rating of 1 out of 5.
